The SCERT has released an official notice directing schools across Maharashtra to establish School Clubs for the overall growth and development of students. This, like the Rangotsav Competition is done to support children’s overall development during their time in school.
What should you know about these Maharashtra School Clubs for Std. 1 to 12?
Every school in Maharashtra from Std. 1 to 12 must compulsorily form School Clubs that align with the curriculum and all-round development of the students. It is mandatory for every student to be part of atleast one of the groups.
Some of the name of such School Clubs are given in the following table:

Note: Schools can also form School Clubs on topics other then mentioned in the above table.
A booklet containing the guidelines for the following groups is available on the official website of SCERT and all schools must adhere to these guidelines. District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) will appoint a teacher as the nodal officer for these clubs. The appointed teacher will be fully responsible for the creation and functioning of these School Clubs.
Deadline for Establishing School Clubs for Maharashta Std. 1 to 12
All schools must establish School Clubs for Std. 1 to 12 by 15 September, 2025.
Guidelines for School Groups established for Class 1 to 12
- Every school must form School Clubs under the guidance of the Principal and teachers on the basis of the subject areas of study. Care should be taken to avoid repetition of activities.
- Each Club must function as per the guidelines issued by the concerned authorities.
- While establishing the clubs, factors such as academic diversity, interests, usefulness, needs, and the number of students in the school and class should be taken into account.
- While assigning students to respective clubs, their interests, skills, and developmental needs should be noted.
- For smooth functioning of the School Clubs, monthly/bi-monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/yearly meetings must be held as and when required.
- Students can participate in more than one group according to their interests.
- The Principal has the authority to finalise the activities to be organised by each School Club.
- Schools and classes should form as many clubs as possible related to different subjects.
- While forming School Clubs at school and class level, the grade, age group, and purpose of the club should be considered. The related teacher will be the mentor of the group.
- The Principal should plan and coordinate the activities conducted at the school and class level.
- The Principal must submit a report of formation and activities of each School Club to the Block Education Officer.
- The Block Education Officer, Education Extension Officer, and Cluster Head must provide necessary guidance, monitoring, and coordination of the Students Club.
- During school visits, Inspectors, District Education Officers, and Block Education Officers (Primary and Secondary) should ensure proper monitoring of student groups.
- No group outside the school should be attached to the Students Club.
- The mentor teacher must gradually reduce their own role within 2–3 years and allow students to take up more responsibilities.
