The National Testing Agency (NTA) has successfully conducted the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 examination across India and Abroad. The exam was held from 02 April, 2026 to 08 April, 2026 in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
Overview of JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Examination
The JEE Main Session 2 examination for 2026 was held across 566 centres in 304 cities across India. The examination was also conducted abroad across 14 cities. Around 11.23 lakh candidates took the examination.
Below is the classification for the number of candidates that appeared for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) and Paper 2 B.Arch./B.Planning).

Important Details Regarding JEE Main 2026 Session 2
- The online application for the examination was conducted from, 01 February, 2026 to 25 February, 2026.
- Further on the request from candidates the application window was reopened on 12 March, 2026 and 13 March, 2026.
- The Admit Cards for the examination were released in two phases on 29 March, 2026 and 01 April, 2026.
- The NTA coordinated with the central and state authorities for smooth conduct of the examination.
Proactive Mesaures Taken by NTA
Reviewing the ongoing situation, the NTA undertook certain proactive measures:
- International Facilitation: Candidates in the Middle East Regions were facilitated through rescheduling and relocation of centres with the endless support from Indian Missions Abroad.
- Riyadh Centre Rescheduling: Due to power disruption in the Riyadh region on 05 April, 2026 the exam was rescheduled and conducted successfully on 06 April, 2026 and 08 April, 2026.
- Manipur Disruption: Despite the on going restrictions and disruptions, the exam was conducted smoothly with the support of the State Government.
- Coordination with CBSE: NTA coordinated with the CBSE in order to ensure that the Class 12 Board exams and JEE Main Session 2 exam did not clash. The agency made candidate-specific adjustments to ensure no candidate missed the examination.
- Standardisation of examination: The difficulty level and syllabus coverage was maintained across all shifts of examination.
JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Examination Upcoming Activities
Release of Question Papers
The administered question papers will be made available for all shifts of JEE Main Session 2 examination by 09 April, 2026. This is done in order to ensure transparency and for candidates to review the questions.
Provisional Answer Keys and Response Sheets
The provisional answer keys for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) with the candidate’s recorded responses are expected to be released by 11 April, 2026. Candidates will be able to challenge the provisional answer keys through an online mechanism in the given time frame.
The fee for challenging the answer keys is ₹200 per question and is non-refundable.
Result Declaration
The tentative date of result declaration for JEE Main Session 2 Paper 1 is 20 April, 2026.
