NTA advisory on JEE 2026 photograph mismatch
Why has NTA Issued This Advisory for JEE Main 2026?
During the scrutiny of JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1 applications, the NTA observed that:
- Some candidates have uploaded documents other than Aadhaar Card as identity proofs.
- Additionally, in certain cases, the live photograph captured during application did not match the photograph available in UIDAI records.
To order to avoid identity verification issues at later stages, NTA has now provided a corrective option for such candidates.
Corrective Measures that Candidates Must Take
NTA has allowed candidates to verify their identity again by submitting an attested certificate. Here is what is required:
- Upload a signed and attested certificate
- The certificate must include a recent photograph
- Candidates are permitted to obtain attestation from a Class-I Gazetted Officer, such as Tehsildar, Revenue Officer, SDM, DM
- The NRI candidates can obtain attestation from Class-I Gazetted Officer of the Indian Embassy
Deadline and Process of Submission for Attested Certificate
The attested certificate must be submitted to NTA in a PDF format via the link sent to the registered email ID of the candidate. The last date for the submission of the certificate is 15 January, 2026.
Additionally, candidates must also carry a printed copy of the same certificate on the day of examination for physical verification.
The JEE Main 2026 session I examination is set to begin from 21 January, 2026 to 30 January, 2026, and Session 2 will take place from 02 April, 2026 to 09 April , 2026.
