Hello NEET (UG) 2025 aspirants!
Uploading documents correctly during the application process is crucial if you want to secure a spot in the NEET (UG) exam. However, the process can sometimes be confusing if you are unaware of the required specifications, such as file format, size limits, and other details. To avoid making any mistakes in the registration and application form, keep reading this blog.
Document Specifications:
1. Photograph:

- You need to upload a recent passport-sized photograph (2”×2”) and a recent postcard-sized photograph (4”×6”). The photographs must be the latest i.e taken after 01 January, 2025.
- The photograph must display 80% of your face with ears being visible. You should not be wearing any masks, goggles, or caps. Spectacles in the photograph are allowed only if used on a regular basis.
- The photo must be taken against a white background.
- The file should be named as ‘first two characters of candidate name_Photo’. For example, if a candidate’s name is Riya, the file name should be ‘RI_PHOTO’.
- The size of the scanned passport-sized photograph and the postcard-sized photograph should be between 10 KB to 200 KB. The format should be in JPG/JPEG.
- Preferably, the photograph can indicate the name of the candidate along with the date of taking the photograph. The photographs need not be attested.
- Keep 6–8 copies of the passport sized photographs and 4 to 6 post card sized photographs with you, as they will be used in the application form process, examination, and for counselling/admission process. This will ensure that the same photograph is used throughout.
2. Signature and Impressions:

- You must upload a scanned copy of your complete signature in running handwriting (not in capital letters).
- The signature should be written with a black ink pen on a white paper.
- The file should be named as ‘first two characters of candidate name_Signature'. For example, if a candidate’s name is Riya, the file name should be ‘RI_SIGNATURE’.
- The size of the scanned signature must be between 10 KB to 50 KB. The format should be JPG/JPEG.
- You must also upload a scanned copy of the impressions of your left and right fingers and thumbs.
- The file should be named as ‘first two characters of candidate name_Fingerprint’. For example, if a candidate’s name is Riya, the file name should be ‘RI_FINGERPRINT’.
- The file size must be between 10 KB to 200 KB (clear resolution). The format should be JPG/JPEG.
3. Identity Proof
The table below lists the types of acceptable identity proofs based on nationality. You must upload any one of the following in the application form.

- Scanned copy of Identity Proof for those students who will verify their identities through methods other than Aadhaar or Digilocker should be named as ‘first two characters of name_last 4 characters of Identity No’. For example, if a candidate’s name is Riya, the file name should be ‘RI_0123’.
- The uploaded Identity Proof should have a file size between 10 KB to 200 KB. It should be in JPG/JPEG format.
4. Class X Marksheet and Certificate
- You must upload a scanned copy of your Class X Marksheet and Class X Passing Certificate or equivalency certificate for conversion of CGPA/Grades in percentage.
- It must be named as 'first two characters of candidate name_ClassXCertificate’ and ‘first two characters of candidate name_ClassXMarksheet’. For example, if a candidate’s name is Riya, the file names should be ‘RI_CLASSXCERTIFICATE’ and ‘RI_CLASSXMARKSHEET’.
- The size of the file should be between 50 KB to 300 KB and in PDF format.
5. Address Proof
- The file should be named as ‘first two characters of name_Addressproof’. For example, if a candidate’s name is Riya, the file name should be ‘RI_ADDRESSPROOF’.
- The size of the scanned Present Address and Permanent Address Proof Document should be between 50 KB to 300 KB. It should be in PDF format.
6. Category Certificate:
- If applicable in your case, the file should be named as ‘first two characters of candidate name_Category’. For example, if a candidate’s name is Riya, the file name should be ‘RI_CATEGORY’.
- The size of the file of Category Certificate must be between 50 KB to 300 KB. The format should be PDF file.
7. Citizenship Certificate, Embassy Certificate or any Documentary Proof of Citizenship Certificate:
- If applicable, the file should be named as 'first two characters of name_Citizenshipproof’ For example, if a candidate’s name is Riya, the file name should be ‘RI_CITIZENSHIPPROOF’.
- The size of the scanned NRI/OCI/ Foreigner Certificate/ Documentary Proof should be between 50 KB to 300 KB. The document should be uploaded in PDF format.
8. PwD/PwBD/UDID Certificate

- If applicable, the file should be named as ‘first two characters of name_PwDCertificate'. For example, if a candidate’s name is Riya, the file name should be ‘RI_PWDCERTIFICATE’.
- Size of the Certificate should be between 50 KB to 300 KB.
- It should be scanned and with both sides in the same PDF.
- The size of the copy of the Medical Certificate issued by a 5 doctor bench should be between 50 KB to 300 KB (if applicable).
- The size of the scanned copy of the Medical Certificate issued by a 2 doctor bench should be between 50 KB to 300 KB, wherever applicable.
- Certificate of Physical limitation to write, wherever applicable.
In case you opt for a scribe, you have to also provide some of their documents.
- A scanned photograph between 10 KB to 200 KB.
- A scanned signature between 10 KB to 50 KB.
- Scanned Qualification Certificate between 50 KB to 300 KB.
- A scanned undertaking for using your own scribe between 50 KB to 300 KB.
- A scanned Identity Proof between 10 KB to 200 KB.

Some Important Instructions Regarding the Documents
Before you upload all the documents, make sure you carefully go through these instructions so that you do not miss out on anything.
- Make sure your photograph or signature are not blurred and are clearly visible. In case they are unclear, the application will be rejected and no option for correction or revision will be permitted.
- You can use the facility provided by NTA of using the platforms of UMANG and DigiLocker for downloading documents. Some of the benefits of using these platforms is as follows:
- In case you forget your User ID or Password to access required information, you can easily retrieve your Application Number, Registered Mobile Number from your DigiLocker account and access the portal.
- DigiLocker makes it easier to validate the authenticity of your documents as they are issued directly by the registered issuers.
- You can access your documents such as Confirmation page of the online Application Form, Admit Card, OMR Answer Sheet, Score Card, etc.
- Do not upload someone else’s information, such as photograph, finger impressions, signature, etc. Do not tamper with your Admit Card, Result, and Scorecard. These acts will be considered as Unfair Means (UFM) Practices and actions will be taken against them.
- If you provide fake or incorrect information to avail the benefit of reservation, you will be excluded from all admission processes.
- You are not required to send a physical copy of any document to the NTA.
- Polaroid and computer-generated photographs are not acceptable.

Documents to Carry on the Day of Examination
- A printed copy of the NEET (UG) 2025 Admit Card.
- Passport-sized photographs (same as used in the Application Form).
- Postcard-sized photographs with white background.
- Authorised Photo Identity Proof which has to be original and valid, such as PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, Class 12 Admit Card with photograph, etc.
- If applicable, Certificate of physical limitation to write and/or PwBD certificate issued by the competent authority.
