Hey NEET (UG) 2025 aspirant!
With the increasing number of applicants, the competition has become tougher than ever. In response, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has modified the tie-breaking policy for NEET (UG) 2025.
On January 7, 2025, the NTA published the information bulletin for the NEET (UG) 2025 exam, which includes the detailed tie-breaking criteria to be followed in case of tied scores.
Let’s take a look at this policy in-depth.
NEET (UG) 2025 Tie-Breaking Policy
In case two or more students obtain equal marks/percentile scores in NEET (UG) 2025, the inter-se-merit (order of merit in case of similar scores) shall be determined in the following order:
- Higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany and Zoology).
- Higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry.
- Higher marks/percentile score in Physics.
- Low proportion of number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all subjects.
- Low proportion of number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany and Zoology).
- Low proportion of number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry.
- Low proportion of number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics.
- In case the criteria mentioned above are exhausted and a tie still persists, it will be resolved through a random process with the guidance of an independent expert committee.
What’s Changed?
Previously, a computer-generated draw of lots was implemented in case a tie was not resolved. But for NEET (UG) 2025, instead of the computer-generated draw there will be a random process guided by an independent expert committee in case a tie is not resolved.
Conclusion
This tie-breaker policy is a reminder that success is not just about excelling in one area, but about having well-rounded knowledge and skill-set.
Don’t let the Tie-Breaker Policy affect your scores. Ensure you are thoroughly prepared for all NEET (UG) subjects with our NEET (UG) 10 Mock Papers Booklet.
