SCERT has directed all schools in Maharashtra to not hold their own examinations for subjects that fall under the Periodic Assessment Tests. The PAT exams are conducted for students of Std. 2 to 8 in subjects including English, Marathi, and Mathematics during the academic year 2025–26.

Maharashtra PAT 2 Assessment Schedule October 2025
What is Periodic Assessment Test (PAT) by SCERT?
PAT is a competency based test conducted under the Samagra Shiksha Project to evaluate students’ basic literacy and numeracy skills that they are expected to attain during each standard. The data obtained through PAT is then fed into the National Achievement Survey.
The conduction of PAT is mandatory for all government and private aided schools in Maharashtra. These tests are of 3 types, namely, Foundation Test, Comprehensive Assessment Test 1, and Comprehensive Assessment Test 2. PAT tests are to be conducted in a total of 10 mediums for Std. 2 to 8.
The test papers for the subjects of Comprehensive Assessment Test 1 are being provided by the State Council of Educational Research and Training. This test is to be conducted from 10 October to 13 October, 2025.
Directions by SCERT for Schools Conducting PATs 2025–26
For standards 2 to 8, the written, oral, self-study, and practical examinations for all subjects except Marathi, Mathematics, and English will be conducted as per the schedule provided by the respective schools.
Schools must note to not conduct the written, oral, self-study and practical examinations for all subjects that are covered under the Periodic Assessment Tests.
This move by SCERT to avoid dual exams for subjects falling under PAT, is aimed to reduce students’ burden to prepare twice for the same subjects.
