First Things First: Check Your JEE Main Admit Card 2026 Carefully
By now, you should have already downloaded your JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1 Admit Card from the official NTA website.
Take a few minutes to go through it properly. You need to double-check your exam date, shift, test timings, reporting time, gate closing time, and the exact venue of your test centre.
With the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exam City Advance Intimation slip out, it’s a smart idea to visit the examination centre a day in advance. Knowing the location and planning your route will save you from last-minute panic and delays on the actual exam day.
If you did not register through Aadhaar, or if you chose a non-Aadhaar authentication option, you have been instructed by the NTA to reach the centre at least one hour before the gate closing time. This extra time is required to complete your biometric verification smoothly.
JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam Day Instructions Issued by NTA
Reach on Time or You Won’t Be Allowed In
On the day of the exam, several pre-examination formalities are conducted before you can enter the hall. That’s why reaching the centre exactly at the reporting time mentioned on your JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Admit Card is extremely important.
If you reach the centre after the gate closing time, you will not be allowed to enter, no matter the reason. The examination centres are under strict surveillance, with CCTV cameras and jammers installed. Any attempt to use unfair means or indulge in malpractice will be taken very seriously.
What You Must Carry to the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam Centre
- You will be allowed inside the exam centre only after proper identity verification. Make sure you carry a clear printout of your Admit Card, preferably in colour, on A4-size paper.
- You must also carry at least two passport-size photographs, one of which will be pasted on the attendance sheet at the centre.
- Along with this, you need to bring a valid photo ID proof in original, exactly the same one that you uploaded during the online application process.
- Photocopies or images stored on your phone will not be accepted under any circumstances.
- If your live photograph does not match the photo linked with your Aadhaar in JEE Main 2026, or if you registered using a non-Aadhaar ID, you must carry the required certificate in original, duly signed by the Principal, Head Master, or a Class-I Gazetted Officer, as per the format shared by NTA.
- If you are claiming relaxation under the PwD or PwBD category, you need to carry your PwD/PwBD certificate or UDID card issued by the competent authority. Candidates with physical disabilities are advised to report early so that facilitation during entry can be arranged.
What You Are NOT Allowed to Carry to the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Exam Centre
- You are strictly NOT allowed to carry bags, purses, paper, stationery, notes, books, calculators, mobile phones, microphone, pager, DocuPen, slide rules, log tables, camera, tape recorder, earphones, smart watches, electronic gadgets, metallic items, eatables, or water bottles (whether loose or packed). There may not be any facility for safe-keeping of valuables at the centre.
- The NTA had recently also issued certain instructions on the usage of virtual calculator in JEE (Main) 2026.
- If you are a diabetic candidate, you may carry sugar tablets, fruits like bananas, apples, or oranges, and a transparent water bottle. Packed food items such as chocolates or sandwiches are not permitted.
- If you leave the exam hall for a bio-break, you will have to undergo biometric verification and frisking again before re-entry.
Scribe Facility and Compensatory Time
If you have a physical limitation that requires the assistance of a scribe, this facility will be provided only if it has been officially certified by a competent medical authority and selected in your online application form.
Candidates with benchmark disabilities such as blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected), or cerebral palsy can opt for a scribe, reader, or lab assistant, if required. Eligible candidates will also be given 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour of the examination.
Aadhaar Biometric Check Is Mandatory
Before heading to the exam centre, ensure that your Aadhaar biometric authentication is not locked. This is essential for smooth verification at the centre and helps avoid unnecessary delays during entry.
Inside the JEE Main 2026 Exam Hall: What You Need to Do
Once inside the examination hall, you will need to fill in the attendance sheet carefully. You must write the required details in legible handwriting, paste your photograph, sign in the designated space, and give a clear left-hand thumb impression.
Since JEE (Main) is a computer-based test, make sure you are comfortable with the CBT format. Also, check the subject and medium displayed on your computer screen. If it does not match what you selected in your Admit Card, inform the invigilator immediately.
Drawing Test Instructions for B.Arch Candidates
If you are appearing for the Drawing Test (Part III of B.Arch), you must bring your own geometry box, pencils, erasers, colour pencils or crayons. You are not allowed to use watercolours, poster colours, or acrylic paints inside the examination hall.
You will be given space on the drawing sheet to attempt both questions, and no extra sheets will be provided. Make sure your drawings are neat and clean. Before leaving the exam hall, you must submit your drawing sheet to the invigilator.
You should not write your roll number, name, centre address, or make any special sign anywhere on the drawing sheet or test booklet.
Rough Work and Admit Card Submission
- Blank A4-size sheets for rough work will be provided inside the exam hall. You must write your name and roll number on every sheet and drop all used sheets in the designated drop box before leaving.
