The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important notice regarding the List of Candidates (LOC) for the 2025–26 Board Examinations for Classes 10 and 12. This year brings a major change: for the first time, CBSE will conduct two Board Exams for CBSE Class 10 students. The first will be held in February, 2026 and the second in May, 2026.
Since the LOC submission is a critical step in the CBSE registration process, every school, student, and parent must carefully understand the updates and requirements.

CBSE Official Notice on LOC Submission 2025–26
Major Updates in the CBSE LOC 2025–26
Here are the major changes you must take note of:
1. Two Board Exams for CBSE Class 10
For the first time, CBSE is introducing a two-Board Examination policy for Class 10.
- The first exam will be held in mid-February 2026 and is mandatory for all Class 10 students.
- The second exam will be conducted in May 2026.
Schools must fill the LOC for every Class 10 student without exception.
With two Board Exams in 2026, students will need consistent preparation throughout the year. Using the right Class 10 CBSE study material can help them stay exam-ready for both February and May.
2. APAAR ID Mandatory for CBSE Schools
To strengthen the digital student record system, CBSE has made APAAR ID compulsory for both Class 10 and 12 students in India.
- The LOC submission portal will only accept candidates with a valid APAAR ID.
- This requirement does not apply to CBSE-affiliated schools abroad.
3. Two Payment Schedules for LOC Submission 2025
Unlike earlier years, two different schedules have been introduced depending on the fee payment mode.
- The LOC submission last date and fee payment last date are the same.
- A late fee will apply if schools miss the scheduled timeline.
4. Early Deadline for CWSN Data Submission 2025
The portal for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) data will open along with the LOC portal.
- However, the CWSN deadline is earlier than the LOC deadline.
- After the cut-off, schools will not be able to add new CWSN candidates.
What Schools Must Follow for CBSE LOC Submission 2025–26
CBSE has laid down clear responsibilities for schools while preparing and submitting the LOC:
- Ensure Accurate Student Data: Personal details (name, parent’s name, DOB), subject codes, and APAAR IDs must be correct before submission.
- Conduct Orientation Sessions: Students and parents need to be briefed about the two-exam policy for Class 10. School staff involved in data submission must also be trained.
- Check Eligibility: Only regular, bonafide students with minimum attendance can be sponsored. For Class 12, candidates must have passed Class 10 from a recognised Board on or before 2024.
- Update Teacher and Student Records: Data on the OASIS and HPE portals must be updated before CBSE LOC submission 2025. Teacher-student ratios must be accurate, and only teachers handling Classes 9–10 and 11–12 should be listed.
- E-Signature Instead of Hard Copies: Since 2021, schools are no longer required to send signed hard copies. The Principal’s Aadhaar-linked e-signature finalises the LOC.
Important CBSE LOC 2025–26 Reminders
- No Edits After Final Submission: Once the LOC is submitted, subjects, CWSN concessions, and direct admissions cannot be changed (except in transfer cases).
- Correction Window (October 13–27, 2025): Schools and students can correct errors in names, DOB, or subjects within this period only. After that, no corrections will be allowed in the CBSE LOC 2025–26.
- Double-Check Subject Codes: Be extra careful while selecting subject codes for Hindi, English, Urdu, and Mathematics, as no changes will be allowed after LOC submission 2025–26.
Note: For in-depth details, refer directly to the official CBSE circular 2025 on LOC submission.
Final Word
The CBSE LOC 2025–26 submission is an important process that impacts both Class 10 Board Exams 2026 and Class 12 Board Exams 2026. Schools, parents, and students must stay alert, ensure data accuracy, and meet all deadlines to avoid complications later.
