The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular regarding strict adherence to timelines for direct admissions and subject changes for classes 10 and 12. This step is taken to ensure a fair, transparent, and time-bound process for the upcoming Board Examinations.

Why the Guidelines by CBSE?
CBSE mandates such strict guidelines in order to ensure the smooth functioning and execution of the various processes involved in the conduct of the board examinations.
Let us have a thorough look at the deadlines for direct admissions and subject change scheduled by CBSE.
Direct Admissions

Establishment of the New Regional Offices by CBSE
The 04 new regional offices established by CBSE will begun functioning on 01 September, 2025. However, matters pertaining to direct admission and subject change will be sent to the Parent Regional Offices. The following table illustrates the new regional and their parent regional offices.

Three new sub-regional offices have been established by CBSE under the Guwahati Regional Office. These are located in Agartala, Itanagar, and Gangtok. For the academic year 2025–26, all cases related to direct admissions and subject change from these three sub-regional offices will be processed through the Guwahati Regional Office.
All tasks of follow up regarding the List of Candidates (LOC) for class 10 and 12, will be taken up by the newly functional Regional Offices as per their jurisdiction.

Conclusion
CBSE mandates to all affiliated schools and stakeholders to not entertain any cases of direct admission or subject change after 31 August, 2025. Principal and the Heads of Institutions are solely responsible for ensuring that all admissions and subject-related changes are completed in accordance with the Board norms and within the given time frame.
