The Education Department of Maharashtra has announced the implementation of a revised timetable for Standards 1 and 2, effective from the 2025–26 academic year. This revised timetable excludes Hindi as the third language for English and Marathi medium schools.

Important Guidelines for Standard 1 and 2: What Schools Need to Know
- These rules will officially come into effect from the 2025–26 academic year for std. 1.
- Once the new textbooks for standard 2 are introduced, these guidelines will apply to them as well.
- For other classes too, schools may choose to follow the same rules. This is to ensure smooth scheduling of daily school bells and activities.
- A sample weekly timetable has been provided, but it’s just a reference. Schools can adjust the order of subjects and the start time as needed. However, they cannot reduce the number of weekly or yearly periods assigned to any subject on their own.
- In some places in the timetable, you’ll notice that two periods are clubbed together. That’s intentional—it allows teachers to conduct engaging, activity-based lessons like group discussions, writing practice, demonstrations, and hands-on learning.
- Whether your school runs full-day sessions or split shifts, the total teaching time will remain the same. However, things like morning assembly, recess, and AEP (Additional Enrichment Period) might vary depending on your school’s schedule and available hours.
- Speaking of AEP—this is a great opportunity for students who need a little extra help or want to push ahead. Schools can use this time for remedial teaching, prep for competitive exams, coaching sessions, and more. Each school can decide which subjects need AEP based on their students' needs.
- If your school follows a double-session format and there’s no room for AEP in the regular timetable, don’t worry. You can still include it either before or after school hours, or by creating small focused groups of students who need additional support.
- Since AEP (Additional Enrichment Period) is meant for supplementary guidance, it has not been included in the fixed annual teaching hours. However, these periods are mentioned in the weekly timetable for planning purposes.
- Activities conducted during Joyful Saturdays can be adjusted based on the school’s session format. Single-session schools can carry out these activities during school hours on Saturdays, while double-session schools can arrange them outside of regular school hours.
