If you're a CBSE Class 10 or Class 12 student placed in the Compartment category and need to take practical exams during the 2025 Supplementary Examinations, it's important to know the latest guidelines. CBSE has issued a clear set of instructions to help students and schools navigate the process smoothly. Here's everything you need to know.
Here's a quick breakdown to help students and schools understand what needs to be done and when.
CBSE Supplementary Practical Exams 2025 Dates
The CBSE supplementary practical exams will be conducted from 10 July to 15 July, 2025.
Who Needs to Appear for CBSE Supplementary 2025 Practical Exams?
CBSE mandates practical exams for two types of candidates:
- Repeat in Practical (RP): Students who failed only in the practical component of a subject.
- Repeat in Both Theory and Practical (RB): Students who failed in both components of a subject.
For Class 12 Students
- Only those marked RP are required to appear for the practical exam during the supplementary schedule. No need to reappear for theory exams; previous theory marks will be carried forward.
- If you’re marked RB, then you will have to appear for both practicals and theory exams.
For Class 10 Students
- To pass a Class 10 subject, you must score at least 33 marks in total, combining Theory and Internal Assessment.
- If you were absent for Internal Assessment, you will be given pro-rata marks based on your theory marks in the supplementary exam. No fresh internal assessment will be held.
Where will the Practical Exams Be Held?
- Regular Students: Exams will be conducted at their respective schools.
- Private Students: Exams will be held at the centre assigned for the theory exam.
If any school lacks practical facilities, CBSE’s Regional Office will arrange an alternative nearby.
Important Roles and Responsibilities
For Students:
- Contact their school/centre by 07 July, 2025 with a copy of their result and admit card.
- Note the exact date and time of their practical exam and report on time.
For Schools/Centres:
- Prepare subject-wise lists of eligible students.
- Coordinate with CBSE Regional Office for the appointment of external examiners (schools cannot appoint externals on their own).
- Inform students well in advance and coordinate timely exams.
For Regional Offices:
- Appoint external examiners and manage practical centres.
- Oversee timely conduct, uploading of marks, and receipt of answer books.
Additional Guidelines
- Marks must be uploaded on the same day of the practical exam on the CBSE portal. Once uploaded, marks are final.
- Practical answer books provided by CBSE must be used, and all entries must be filled accurately.
