The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an important advisory regarding biometric verification for candidates appearing in the NEET (UG) 2026 Re-Examination on 21 June, 2026. As part of the enhanced security measures, every candidate must complete biometric verification before entering the examination room.

Biometric Verification for NEET (UG) 2026 Re-Examination
On the day of the examination, you must undergo the following before entering the examination room:
- Mandatory frisking
- Biometric verification (finger print or facial recognition)
The biometric verification process is a compulsory security requirement and must be completed before the examination begins.
Exception Provision for Biometric Verification
NTA has clarified that you will not be denied entry if biometric verification cannot be completed due to specific reasons.
The exception applies in the following situations:
- Device hardware failure
- Poor quality of biometric data
- Connectivity failure with UIDAI servers
- Physical inability of the candidate to provide biometric data
In such cases, you will still be allowed to appear for the examination.
However, you must complete a written undertaking at the examination centre during entry. The prescribed format will be provided by the Centre Superintendent.
Biometric Process During the Examination
You need not worry about interruptions during the test.
According to NTA:
- You will not be disturbed during the active examination period for biometric processing.
- Biometric verification will only be carried out before the examination begins or after it concludes.

NEET (UG) 2026 Re-Examination Timings
The examination schedule is as follows:
- NEET (UG) 2026 Re-Examination: 2:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
- PwD/PwBD candidates eligible for compensatory time: Upto 6:20 p.m.
Invigilation formalities related to the conduct of the examination will be completed during the examination period.
Important Instructions for Candidates
You are advised to:
- Cooperate fully with the examination centre staff and security personnel.
- Follow all biometric verification procedures.
- Complete the written undertaking if biometric verification cannot be completed due to the specified reasons.
NTA has also stated that refusing biometric verification without a valid documented reason will be treated as a violation of examination rules.
Such cases may invite action under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
