The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released a public notice regarding the JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1 and Session 2 results for Paper-1 (B.E./B. Tech). This initiative aims to enhance transparency in the examination process by providing a detailed breakdown of candidate distribution and percentile scores across all shifts.
Key Highlights of the NTA Notice
- Randomized Shift Assignment: Candidates were assigned to shifts randomly using a computer-based system. Priority was given to PwD and female candidates for their first-choice city.
- Uniform Distribution: The data confirms that the distribution of candidates across different dates, shifts, and categories remained uniform for both sessions.
- Saraswati Puja Rescheduling: On account of Saraswati Puja on 23rd January 2026, the NTA successfully accommodated requests for rescheduling. Exams originally set for 23rd January were shifted to 24th and 28th January 2026.
- Percentile Score Transparency: The NTA has published the distribution of percentile scores for every date and shift to maintain full transparency.
Understanding the Percentile Score Formula
The percentile score is not the same as a raw percentage. It indicates the percentage of candidates who have scored equal to or below a particular candidate in that specific shift.

The released documents provide a comprehensive look at the number of candidates in various percentile brackets ranging from the perfect 100.0000000 score down to lower brackets. This data is categorized by:
- Exam Date

- Number of Candidates in that bracket
