The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released an important notice regarding the submission of List of Candidates (LOC) for the Class 10 Second Board Examination 2026.
If you are planning to improve your marks, appear for compartment, or take the second board exam, this update is extremely important.
CBSE Class 10 Second Board Exam 2026: Important Dates

Students and schools must ensure that all details are submitted within the timeline, as no changes will be allowed after the LOC submission window closes.
Who Can Apply for the CBSE Class 10 Second Board Examination 2026?
Fresh Students Not Included Earlier
If you wish to appear in the Second Board Examination but your name was not submitted during the first phase of LOC, you can now submit your names and pay the examination fee.
Students Already Registered in First Phase
If your name was already submitted in the first phase, you may now proceed with fee payment.
Withdrawal Option Available
If you had earlier submitted your names but now do not wish to appear in the second examination, you may withdraw your name.
Mathematics Subject Option Change Allowed
CBSE has allowed you to change your mathematics level for the second examination.
Permitted Changes
- Students who appeared for Mathematics (Standard) in the main examination may opt for Mathematics (Basic) in the second examination.
- Students who appeared for Mathematics (Basic) may opt for Mathematics (Standard).
Note: CBSE has clearly stated that change of any other offered subject is not allowed.
Number of Subjects Allowed
If you passed the first Board examination and are eligible to appear for the Second Board examination, you can improve your performance in any three subjects from the following:
- Science
- Mathematics
- Social Science
- Languages

Sports Students Update
CBSE has also mentioned that the names of sports students permitted by the Board may be added during the given schedule.
Students Not Eligible for the Second Examination
If you were placed in the ER category, you are not eligible for the Second Board Examination.
Important Update for Compartment Students
If you were placed in the compartment category, you may appear in the second examination under the same category and the improvement category as per scheme.
However, CBSE has specified that the LOC for First Chance Compartment candidates must be submitted only by the concerned school.
CWSN Students: Facility Continuation
If you were registered as CWSN (Children With Special Needs) in the first examination you will continue to receive all facilities as per CBSE provisions.
However, no new CWSN registrations will be permitted for the second examination.
What Will Happen If You Register But Do Not Appear for the Examination?
If your name is submitted in the LOC and the fee is paid, but you do not appear for the second examination, then your performance in the Main Examination will be treated as final.
Syllabus for the Second Board Examination
CBSE has confirmed that the will be conducted on the same syllabus as the Main Examination 2026.
No Corrections After LOC Submission
CBSE has strictly stated that no correction will be allowed after LOC submission is over.
Schools must carefully read the guidelines, collect the correct data of the students , and submit the same correctly.
CBSE Class 10 Second Board Exam 2026 Fee Details
Here is the official fee structure:

Important Fee Payment Note
CBSE has clearly stated that the fee will be accepted only in online mode.
The following will not be accepted:
- Offline fee payment
- Direct bank deposit
- Manual deposit
If schools pay offline, the fee will not be updated in the CBSE account and the LOC will not be accepted.

Checklist Before Final LOC Submission
Before paying the fee, schools can take a printout of the LOC checklist.
Once the fee is paid the final LOC will be generated and no correction can be made in online or offline mode.
Bank Transaction Issue? Keep These Details Ready
In case the fee does not reflect on the CBSE server, schools must contact the respective bank. They should keep the following details ready:
- Mode of payment
- Fee Reference Number
- Amount deposited
- Date of deposit
- Branch where amount was deposited
- Bank reference number/Transaction ID
- Contact number
How Will the Late Fee Be Calculated
The date on which the LOC data is finalised is considered for fee calculation.
- If your data is finalised on or before the last date, fee can be paid till the last date without late fee
- If LOC data is not finalised by the last date, late fee becomes applicable and no extension of last date will be given after the finalisation of data.
Note: Even if details are entered but not finalised, late fee will still apply.

CBSE has instructed all schools to collect correct student data, and submit everything strictly within the schedule. Any delay in finalisation or fee submission will attract the prescribed late fee penalty.
