You can apply through the Private Candidate section of the official CBSE website. Only one application form can be submitted. You must provide a working email ID for OTP verification.
Students who appeared in the 2026 Board Examination will see relevant details auto-generated in the online system. Candidates from 2025 or earlier need to enter details such as their roll number and year of examination carefully.
Important Form-Filling Instructions
You will be able to select only the subjects generated in the online system based on your eligibility. Take special care while selecting language subject codes, as CBSE has warned that incorrect subject selection can create problems later.
You must also provide the correct postal address and choose the examination city carefully. The examination centre allotted by CBSE will be final, and requests for a change of centre will not be considered.
CBSE advises you to fill the form yourself wherever possible. If you use a cyber café, you should personally verify all information before final submission.
After submitting the form and paying the fee, download and keep a copy for your records. Any permitted correction must be made within the prescribed submission period.
Photo, Signature, and CWSN Provisions
You need to upload your photograph and signature according to the specifications given by CBSE. The photograph should be recent, clear, in colour and show the full face. The uploaded photograph and signature must follow the prescribed file-size of 40KB and in JPG format.
Students seeking exemptions or concessions under the Children with Special Needs (CWSN) provisions need to upload the required disability or medical certificate. Eligible facilities already provided during earlier Board examinations may continue subject to submission of the required documents.
Payment Rules
The examination fee must be paid digitally.
For candidates in India, accepted modes include Internet Banking, UPI, debit card and credit card. Candidates outside India, including Nepal, can use the permitted online banking or card payment methods.
CBSE will not accept fees through offline modes such as postal order, demand draft, money order, cheque or cash.
Submitting the application form and paying the fee does not automatically confirm your eligibility. CBSE will determine eligibility according to the applicable examination rules.
Admit Card, Marks Statement, and Migration Certificate
Eligible candidates will be able to download their admit cards from the CBSE website.
For candidates appearing outside Delhi, the original Marks Statement cum Certificate will generally be sent to the residential address provided in the application. For Delhi examination centres, the document will be handled through the concerned Regional Office/examination centre as specified by CBSE.
If you appear for Improvement of Performance, a separate Marks Statement cum Certificate will be issued reflecting the applicable result. Candidates who clear the second-chance Compartment examination may receive a consolidated Marks Statement cum Certificate as per CBSE rules.
Note: CBSE will not issue a hard copy of the Migration Certificate as a compulsory practice. If required, you can apply for it online after declaration of the result.
Subject Rules for Class 10 Private Candidates
CBSE has provided a detailed list of subjects along with their subject codes, theory marks, practical/project/internal assessment marks and passing marks.
For certain paired subjects, only one subject code can be selected. This applies to options including Hindi, Urdu, Telugu, Music, Mathematics, Elements of Business, and Elements of Book Keeping.
CBSE has also specified that only one subject can be offered out of the relevant restricted subject-code combinations listed in the notice.
You should therefore choose subjects strictly according to the options generated for you in the portal.
