The National Testing Agency NTA has issued a statement on its official X account regarding the action taken on the Telegram platform in India before the NEET UG 2026 re-examination. The re-exam is scheduled to be conducted on 21 June, 2026.

In its statement, NTA said that directions were issued by the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology regarding Telegram in India after recommendations from NTA.
The directions include a temporary access restriction for a limited period ending 22 June, 2026. This period covers the day of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination and its immediate aftermath.
The statement also mentions a separate direction related to the message-editing feature of Telegram for already posted messages. This feature will be disabled in India for a limited time too. This feature-specific direction is stated to remain in force till 30 June, 2026.

Why Was the Action Taken?
As per NTA, the directions were linked to concerns about misleading claims and false content around the NEET UG 2026 re-examination. The statement refers to reports of unauthorised channels and online content claiming access to exam-related material.
NTA also stated that the action was taken after channel-level takedown steps and other intermediate measures were pursued. The statement describes the access restriction as limited to the examination window.
