The much awaited NEET (UG) 2026 Re-examination is just a few hours away, and the National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that it is fully prepared to conduct the examination smoothly, fairly, and securely across India and abroad.
From enhanced security arrangements to candidate-friendly facilities, here's everything you should know before exam day.

NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination: Key Highlights
The NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination will be held on 21 June, 2026 (Sunday) from 2:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. (IST). The mode of examination is pen-and-paper.
The extended time for PwD/PwBD candidates is upto 6:20 p.m.
The examination will take place across 551 cities in India and 14 international cities, with over 22.79 lakh candidates expected to appear.
Massive Arrangements to Ensure a Fair Examination
To conduct the examination efficiently, NTA has mobilised over 2 lakh personnel, including:
- 674 City Coordinators
- 6,669 Observers
- Centre Superintendents and Invigilators
- District Administration officials
- Police personnel and escort teams for secure transportation of confidential materials
These coordinated efforts are aimed at ensuring the examination is conducted fairly and without disruption.
Enhanced Security Measures for NEET UG 2026
NTA has introduced multi-layer security measures to maintain transparency and prevent malpractices. These include:
- Secure handling of confidential examination materials under sealed protocols.
- GPS-enabled vehicles with police escorts for transporting examination materials.
- CCTV surveillance at all examination centres linked to centralised control rooms.
- Mandatory frisking using high-sensitivity metal detectors with strengthen manpower and equipments.
- Aadhaar-based biometric authentication.
- Real-time monitoring through central control systems.
- Active monitoring of social media to prevent misinformation and fraudulent activities.
NTA has also filed complaints with cyber-crime authorities, including I4C/MHA and CBI, against those spreading false information or engaging in malpractice. With this, the NTA has also been monitoring social media platforms.
What if NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Biometric Verification Fails
You will not be denied entry if biometric verification cannot be completed due to:
- Technical device malfunction
- Poor fingerprint quality
- UIDAI connectivity issues
- Physical inability
In such cases, you will have to sign a written undertaking provided at the examination centre. Your identity will then be verified manually using valid identity documents.

Facilities Available at Examination Centres for Candidates
Keeping student comfort in mind, NTA has arranged:
- Reliable electricity and generator backup
- Proper lighting and fans
- Wall clocks in every examination room
- Drinking water and sanitation facilities
- On-site medical support
- Additional biometric machines and trained staff
- Permission to carry a transparent water bottle
- Diabetic candidates may carry sugar tablets and fruits (banana, apple, orange) along with a transparent water bottle.
Reporting Time and Documents to Carry
You should report between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Note: Entry gates will close sharply at 1:30 p.m., and no late entry will be permitted.
Carry the following:
- Printed admit card
- One original valid photo ID for verification
- Two passport-size photographs to affix on attendance sheet
If you are wearing customary or religious attire, full sleeves or woollens, you are advised to arrive early to allow sufficient time for security checks.
The NTA has advised candidates to verify the exact address on their admit card and not to solely rely on online applications.
Important Advisory for Students
NTA advises candidates to:
- Reach the examination centre well in advance.
- Verify the examination centre address from the admit card instead of relying only on map applications.
- Follow the prescribed dress code and permitted items list.
- Avoid carrying prohibited items such as mobile phones, smart watches, bluetooth devices, calculators, wallets, jewellery, metallic accessories, and food packets.
- Trust only official updates available on the NTA website.
- Ignore rumours regarding question paper leaks and report suspicious activities immediately.
