In a major development for medical aspirants across the country, Union Education Minister Hon. Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, has announced a series of significant changes related to the NEET (UG) examination 2027 process.
What Led to the NEET (UG) 2027 Changes?
The recent announcement of change to the NEET (UG) 2027 examination system come after a series of developments surrounding the NEET (UG) 2026 examination.
Following allegations of NEET (UG) 2026 examination irregularities, including suspected paper leak activities, the Rajasthan SOG initiated an investigation into the matter, during which multiple interrogations were reportedly conducted.
The issue led to the NEET (UG) 2026 exam being cancelled to ensure fairness and maintain the credibility of the examination system.
Following this, the NTA announced a NEET (UG) 2026 exam re-examination on 21 June, 2026.
NEET (UG) 2027 to Be Conducted Online
According to Education Minister Hon. Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan’s statement in a press release, NEET exams may be conducted online starting next year.
OMR sheets will be replaced by a digital exam format (CBT), which is expected to bring stricter monitoring systems and faster processing of results.
Extra 15 Minutes and Fee Refunds for NEET (UG) 2026 Re-Exam
The Hon. Education Minister further stated that the NEET (UG) 2026 re-exam will be extended by 15 minutes.
Additionally, NEET (UG) 2026 re-exam students will be refunded their already paid fees and the re-exam conducted under such circumstances will be held free of cost.
