The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell is considering changes to how examination centres are allotted for MHT-CET. Under the proposed system, the option to choose a preferred examination district may be replaced by centre allotment based on the PIN code of the junior college where you completed Std. 12.
The proposal is currently under consideration and has not yet been announced as a final rule.

MHT-CET Exam Centre Allotment Process Under Review
The CET Cell is preparing a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the state-level entrance examination conducted for engineering and pharmacy admissions.
The proposed SOP is expected to review the overall MHT-CET process, beginning with student registration and continuing through the Common Admission Process (CAP), especially the exam centre allotment.
How Are MHT-CET Exam Centres Currently Chosen?
Under the existing process, you can choose your preferred district while filling out the examination form.
The CET Cell is now examining a different approach where your junior college’s PIN code may be considered while assigning the examination centre.
The idea is to use the location of the college where you completed Std. 12 as the primary reference for centre allotment.
How Could the Proposed PIN Code System Work?
Under the proposed system, the PIN code of your junior college could be used to identify a suitable examination centre.
Since students generally attend junior colleges close to their homes or within nearby areas, this method may help the CET Cell allot centres closer to the location linked with your Std. 12 studies.
However, the process is still being reviewed and the final procedure may depend on the SOP approved by the concerned authority.
What If a Suitable Exam Centre Is Not Available?
The proposed system also considers situations where the required examination facility may not be available near the junior college PIN code.
In such cases, an alternative examination centre may be considered while keeping the student’s requirements in mind.
Students who face difficulty travelling to the allotted centre may also be able to approach the CET Cell and request an alternative arrangement. The candidate’s Aadhaar address may be considered while reviewing such requests.
The CET Cell Commissioner may also have the authority to provide an alternative examination centre in cases involving medical emergencies.
Proposed SOP Yet to Receive Final Approval
The revised SOP covering the MHT-CET process is expected to be submitted to the Higher and Technical Education Department for approval.
Until the new system is formally approved and announced, you should continue following the examination centre instructions available on the official CET Cell portal.

Conclusion
The Maharashtra CET Cell is considering a new method of allotting MHT-CET examination centres using the PIN code of the junior college where you completed Std. 12 instead of allowing district preference.
The proposal also provides scope for alternative centres where suitable facilities are unavailable or in special situations. Since the changes are still under review, you should wait for the official CET Cell notification before treating the proposed process as final.
