Still unsure about the latest State Board update?
Amid the confusion surrounding the implementation of the CBSE pattern in State Board schools, Hon. State Education Minister Shri. Dadaji Bhuse has provided much-needed clarity. He addressed the reporters during a visit to Nashik, as reported by Times of India.
Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how the events unfolded.
The Initial Confusion
Many people thought that Maharashtra’s State Board schools would completely switch to the CBSE pattern. Why? Because there were news and discussions of a complete transition to CBSE pattern. The suggestion of a complete transition to the CBSE pattern led to widespread uncertainty. Students, parents, and educators alike experienced a period of confusion as they sought clarity.
The Clarification
To clear things up, Maharashtra's Education Minister, Hon. Shri. Dadaji Bhuse, announced that only a few elements of the CBSE pattern will be added to State Board schools. This change will start only for Standard 1 students from the academic year 2025–26. The CBSE curriculum will be implemented in state Board till class 12 by the year 2028.
The new curriculum will be introduced for classes 2,3,4, and 6 in 2026. In 2027, classes 5,7,9 and 11 will be covered. Lastly, classes 8,10, and 12 will be covered in 2028.
Thus, the Maharashtra State Board pattern will not be entirely replaced, however, they will accommodate some changes.
Subsequently, Balbharati will still be responsible for printing textbooks and researching the curriculum.
State Board Stays the Same only with Minor Changes
Hon. Minister reassured everyone that the State Board (SSC) system will continue as usual. The CBSE elements will just improve the current system, not replace it.
Reassurance to Parents and Teachers
Many parents and teachers were still worried about how this change would affect students. Hon. Minister said that a press conference and assembly discussions will be held to explain everything properly.
Goal: Better Education
Therefore, the Maharashtra Education Department’s goal is to gradually improve the system by adopting good ideas from CBSE, without completely changing the existing State Board method.
