Maharashtra CET Cell Issues Notice on Engineering College Fees
The notice was issued following representations received by the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Examination Board from candidates, parents, and public representatives. The complaints raised concerns over institutions allegedly demanding excessive or irregular fees from engineering students.
According to the notice, the Tariff Regulatory Authority approves the fees for the entire organisation. Therefore, any additional fee charged beyond the approved amount is not permitted.
Engineering Colleges Cannot Charge Additional Fees
If you are seeking engineering admission, you should be aware that colleges are required to charge only the fees officially approved by the Education Fees Authority.
The notice specifically states that the following practices are prohibited:
- Charging fees over and above the approved amount
- Demanding additional fees in cash
- Collecting any other fees that have not been approved by the concerned authority
