The Ministry of Defence (MoD), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE), is launching the sixth edition of the project to help students learn about the bravery and life stories of Gallantry Award winners.
Through poems, essays, paintings, drawings, multimedia presentations and short videos, you can explore the stories of brave hearts and express what you learn through creative and interdisciplinary activities.

CBSE Veer Gatha 6.0: What Is the Project About?
Project Veer Gatha was introduced in 2021 to share the acts of bravery and life stories of Gallantry Award winners with students. The initiative aims to promote the spirit of patriotism and develop values of civic consciousness among students.
For Veer Gatha 6.0, the Ministry of Defence will also organise virtual and face-to-face awareness programmes and sessions for schools across the country. The venues and timings for these sessions will be shared separately.
CBSE Veer Gatha 6.0 Activities for Students
You can participate in different activities depending on your school stage. The activities include poems, paragraphs, essays, painting, drawing, multimedia presentations and short videos involving anchoring, storytelling or reporting of war.
The suggested topics include writing about a Gallantry Award winner who inspires you, the values you have learnt from their life, or an Indian warrior whose spirit and military strategies inspire you.
Preparatory Stage: Grades 3 to 5
If you are in Grades 3 to 5, you can participate through:
- Poem or paragraph of 150 words
- Painting
- Drawing
Middle Stage: Grades 6 to 8
For Grades 6 to 8, the activities include:
- Poem or paragraph of 300 words
- Painting
- Drawing
- Multimedia presentation
- Short video involving anchoring, storytelling or reporting of war
Secondary Stage: Grades 9 to 12
If you are in Grades 9 to 12, you can participate through:
- Poem or essay of 750 words
- Painting
- Drawing
- Multimedia presentation
- Short video involving anchoring, storytelling or reporting of war
CBSE Veer Gatha 6.0 Important Dates
The CBSE circular has specified the following timeline for Veer Gatha 6.0:

| 5 October, 2026 to 19 October, 2026 | Schools upload their best entries on the MyGov portal |
Schools have to conduct the activities at their own level and evaluate the entries. After this, they have to upload the selected entries on the MyGov portal.
How Many Entries Can a School Submit?
Schools can submit 4 best entries to the MyGov portal from 5 October to 19 October, 2026. The category-wise submission is:

| Category 1 | Preparatory Stage | Grades 3 to 5 |
| Category 2 | Middle Stage | Grades 6 to 8 |
| Category 3 | Secondary Stage | Grades 9 to 10 and Grades 11 to 12 |
The submission breakup depends on the highest grade in the school:
- Schools up to Grade 10: 1 entry each from Categories 1, 2 and 3, plus 1 additional entry from any category.
- Schools up to Grade 8: 1 entry each from Categories 1 and 2, plus 2 additional entries from either category.
- Schools up to Grade 5: 4 entries from Category 1.
Schools are advised to upload the shortlisted entries as soon as the school-level activities and evaluation are completed.
CBSE Veer Gatha 6.0 Winners: National, State and District Levels
The Veer Gatha 6.0 winners will be selected at national, State/UT and district levels.
National Level: Super 100
There will be 100 national-level winners, known as the Super 100:
- 25 winners from Category 1: Grades 3 to 5
- 25 winners from Category 2: Grades 6 to 8
- 50 winners from Category 3: Grades 9 to 12
- 25 from Grades 9 to 10
- 25 from Grades 11 to 12
Students who were national-level winners in earlier editions of Veer Gatha will not be included in the Super 100 for Veer Gatha 6.0.
State/UT and District Level Winners
At the State/UT level, there will be 8 winners: two from each of Categories 1 and 2, and four from Category 3. Students selected in the Super 100 will not be included.
At the district level, there will be 4 winners: one from each category, with two winners from Category 3 — one each from Grades 9-10 and Grades 11-12.
Students already selected at national or State/UT level will not be included.
CBSE Veer Gatha 6.0 Prize Money and Certificates
If you are selected among the Super 100, you will be felicitated jointly by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Defence. Each national-level winner will receive a cash prize of ₹10,000 from the Ministry of Defence.
State/UT and district-level winners will be felicitated by the respective authorities. The prize details at these levels will be decided by the concerned State/UT and district authorities.
Certificates will also be awarded to winners at the respective levels.
Veer Gatha Corner in CBSE Schools
CBSE has also requested schools to establish a dedicated ‘Veer Gatha Corner’.
The corner will focus on Gallantry Award winners, military traditions, military strategies, wars and struggles of great warriors, soldiers and rulers. It will also showcase student talent and help students prepare for future participation.

Schools can refer to the Gallantry Awards website to learn more about the brave hearts featured in the project. CBSE has also provided an NCERT book on Paramvir Chakra Awardees as a reference resource.

CBSE Veer Gatha 6.0: Evaluation Rubrics
Your entry will be evaluated based on criteria such as originality of expression, presentation and relevance to the topic.
Each assessment has a maximum score of 16 marks.
