The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is a public, deemed research university dedicated to science, engineering, design, and management education and research. IISc has a rich legacy of fundamental scientific contributions as well as the application of its research findings for societal benefit.
The institute was founded in 1909. A visionary partnership between Sir Jamsetji Tata, the Royal Family of Mysore, and the Government of India was instrumental in the establishment of IISc.
The IISc is offering a “Four-year Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme” that is aimed at providing a balanced combination of core scientific and interdisciplinary subjects as a foundation for potential career opportunities in academia and industry.

The four-year Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme is organized into eight semesters. The final semester is devoted exclusively to a research project. The following major disciplines are available in the Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme:
Students who satisfy the prerequisites for the achievement of the Bachelor of Science (Research) degree will have the option of acquiring a Master of Science degree by studying at the Institute for a fifth year.

National Entrance Exam (i.e., Mode of Entry) Requirements
Selection will be based on the merit list of one of the following national examinations. The candidate must be qualified in any one of the exams mentioned below, and the exam result must be valid as on 01 August 2023.
Note: IISER Aptitude Test is introduced as a new mode of Entry for the Academic Year 2023-24.
Candidates have to apply directly on the IISc admission portal to apply through this mode of Entry.

All the students who join the Institute are eligible for a scholarship from the KVPY/INSPIRE/IISc Promotional Scheme (IIScP), depending upon their mode of entry. Scholarships from many Indian and multinational agencies and business houses are also available for meritorious students. The scholarship amount may vary for different scholarship agencies as per norms.
